Ironlak Art Beads

Video Tutorial

Have you ever tried using Alcohol Ink pens on raw polymer clay only to find they clog up, don't work, leave streaky marks etc?  Well take a look at the Ironlak Alcohol Ink Pump Action Markers and be amazed.  These markers are loaded with alcohol ink and work beautifully on raw polymer clay.  Use them in conjunction with Ironlak Striker Pens and you have a match made in heaven.  I'll be creating a raw polymer clay veneer and will then show you how to turn this veneer into a simple yet stunning pod shaped bead.

I've used the following Ironlak products in this tutorial.

  • Ironlak Pump Action Ink Markers 7mm Nib (in a range of colours)
  • Ironlak Striker Pens (these are alcohol ink based - in a range of colours)

Polymer Clay Veneer with Embossing Powder and Texture

Embossing powders are such a great addition to many polymer clay techniques and I for one, don't use them enough.  I was working on a project trying a range of different techniques with embossing powders and polymer clay and came up with a really cool way to use them.  This is a really simple process and so many different looks can be achieved.

Polymer Clay, Foils and Stencils

The combination of stencils and foils with polymer clay can offer some incredibly gorgeous effects.  Try a variety of stencils, maybe even make some of your own. I've written up very simple instructions on how to do this in a blog post here: Make your Own Stencils

There are lots of variations when using stencils as well.  Play around and see what you can come up with.
